Hey, I am just making a quick announcement here. If you have never
heard of POSSCON, I recommend checking it out http://posscon.org/

They have an incredible lineup of OSS speakers and it is only about
3.5 hours away. For those who recall, Jim Salter and Todd Lewis came
up to do the awesome KVM talk back in October
http://trilug.org/2012-10-11/kvm.

Todd Lewis is the POSSCON organizer and he said they were nearly sold
out (they may already be sold out by now). However, if there are any
who may wish to attend, let me know and I will contact Todd if need
be. I plan to attend if anyone needs a ride and I got in at the
volunteer rate. It is also an opportunity to potentially find speakers
for future TriLUG meetings.

Hai lugz!

I hope everyone had a great spring break! As we mentioned on the blog
(you do read the blog, right? It's at lug.ncsu.edu), we've got a great
lineup this month, starting with Drew Hicks, a student in Dr. Barnes'
research group, who will be sharing and answering questions about his
game "Bots", which is designed to teach young students the basic
elements of procedural programming.

It'll be fun, and now we've got a room that has slightly consistent
wifi, so there's no excuse not to come.

President Barry

PS: The end of the semester is almost upon us, so you may want to
start thinking about if you'll plan to run for an officer position
next year. :)

Hello, LUGgers,

Tonight, Paul McLanahan from Mozilla will be visiting NC State to talk about Firefox OS, an open source, Web-based mobile operating system being developed by Mozilla. We'll likely be discussing some of Mozilla's other projects as well.

The meeting will start at 19:00 tonight, in Engineering Building I on Centennial, room 1007. As usual, we'll probably go out to dinner afterwards. We hope to see you there!

Thanks,

Hai Lugz:

Tonight's dinner will be at Ruckus Pizza in Mission Valley (next to
Kerr Drug Store). As always, we'll be meeting at 19:00. They have
pizza and wraps and are generally a fun place to hang out. Come out
tonight and bring a friend!

ALSO - mark your calendars for Saturday, April 20, as that's when
we'll be holding the second Hack Day of the semester! Like last time,
we'll be meeting in the Hunt Library Fishbowl on the fourth floor.
Plan to be free that day so we can meet up and have a fun day where we
pretend to get work done!

See you tonight!
Barry Peddycord

Open source all the cities.

What are the elements of an open source city? Learn how open source is
influencing the open government movement in Raleigh. Well take a
brief look at policy, participation, culture, and apps in Raleigh. You
might be surprised how much is happening in the Triangle region, even
if you're not a civic geek. I'll also talk about my book, The
Foundation of an Open Source, and my successful crowdfunding campaign.
This will very much be both a presentation and a conversation.

The semester is almost over, meaning that it's time for OFFICER
NOMINATIONS. In our next meeting, we will officially open spots for
nominations, but if you want to get ahead of the competition, please
announce your intent to run on the mailing list. We accept nominations

On Monday, I (Barry Peddycord III the Great) will be presenting a

meet on Monday night at 19:00, and we'll be in EB1 1007.

I hope to see you all there! Also, let this email serve as a reminder
that our hack day will be on April 20th in the Hunt Library Fishbowl

got no excuse not to!
